Biking in the DC area can be dangerous and, believe me, I know what I am talking about. Last Thuesday, on a sunny, warm early morning, I took my bicycle for another ride (the 22nd time this year) to work but, too bad, I never got there. Just a few miles form home, while riding on the sidewalk, a negligent car driver crossed my path and I was forced, in an ultimate reaction in order to avoid a collision, to move out of the way. As a result, I bumped, at nearly 35 km/h, with my left side against an illumination pole. It was granite against concrete, and thus ... I survived, although my body resembled like it went through a concrete mixer...
Carine brought me - at full speed - to the Emergency Room in the Naval Medical Center, where they treated me (no additional comments ...). Lukily for me, no fractures were diagnosed, only a few (major) scratches, bruisings and sprains. The very next day, I went back to work (granite, you know ;o) but I feel anyhow that I have to recover a few days (or weeks ...). Take a closer look a my leginjuries ... (I'm a real bike-vet now ...).
