Today 1st museum visit : THE NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM

Thanks to our TomTom, we easily found our way to the Mall area in Washington DC where the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum was our first goal to visit. And ... as we expected, it was ... GREAT !!! So much to see, so much to discover, in short : it was worth a visit. The Apollo 11 command Module, the Spirit of St. Louis, the Wright Flyer, Amelia Earhart's Red Vega, a Supermarine Spitfire MK. VII, ... But where the hell was the V2 ???

Oh yes, one more thing : today it was extremely hot again (nearly 40 degrees C) and so f*&ck#ng humid. Brimful perspiration !!!!

US Tour of Duty will soon come to an end :o(

The Wash Experience blog will soon become history ... Our "re-deployment" to Europe is scheduled in Aug 2011. Needless to say that it is with mixed feelings that we're gonna leave this beautiful country in which we lived for 4 amazing/awesome years. Luckily, a new challenge in a new country lies in front of us and we're pretty sure ... there will be a new chapter on our blog ... "l'Expérience Strasbourgeoise". Go buy a turkey - Take a drink of whiskey (scotch) OR JD - Put turkey in the oven - Take another 2 drinks of whiskey - Set the degree at 375 ovens - Take 3 more whiskeys of drink - Turn oven the on - Take 4 whisks of drinky - Turk the bastey - Whiskey another bottle of get - Stick a turkey in the thermometer - Glass yourself a pour of whiskey - Bake the whiskey for 4 hours - Take the oven out of the turkey - Take the oven out of the turkey - Floor the turkey up off of the pick - Turk the carvey - Get yourself another scottle of botch - Tet the sable and pour yourself a glass of turkey - Bless the saying, pass and eat out !!

INDIAN SUMMER !

The weather in our region is still sunny and warm and we might have the impression that autumn hasn't begun yet although the leaves are turning into their most colourful sight. Indian summer ... this term dates back to the 18th century in the United States. It can be defined as "any spell of warm, quiet, hazy weather that may occur in October or even early November." It is generally associated with a period of considerably above normal temperatures, accompanied by dry and hazy conditions ushered in on a south or southwesterly breeze. Anyway, let's hope that the Brazilian winter (whatever that is ...) will be starting soon.

Guido, my predecessor, and his family returned back home again

On august 24th, Guido and his family took off from Andrews AirForce Base to fly back to Belgium. They staid approx. 4 years in the States and it was with mixed feelings that they returned to their "Limburgial" habitat. Carine and I would like to thank them for their friendly and warm support, for their appreciated advice and for all the sympathetic moments we had together. Remember guys, always welcome at Grand Oak !! From now on, the financial flaming torch of BMSO is taken over by yours truly. So, cross your fingers and pray ...
