The HOPE diamond (45.42 carats !!!!)

The Hope Diamond (India) is a large, deep blue diamond, currently housed in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. The diamond is legendary for the curse it supposedly puts on whoever possesses it. The Hope Diamond appears to be a brilliant blue to the naked eye because of trace amounts of boron, which is a chemical element, within the diamond. The Hope Diamond is classified as a Type IIb diamond. It is one of the world's most famous gems. It is surrounded with 16 white diamonds and suspended from a platinium chain. You know what they about diamonds ... the girl's best friend. Well, it isn't mine !! ;o)
