Gérardmer, au coeur du Massif des Vosges

Gérardmer is a fair-sized ski resort in the Vosges. It isn't quite as high or as extensive as La Bresse, but it does boast the longest piste in the Vosges (the 4km long Chevreuils.) The resort covers 40km of pistes on 2 thickly forested hills above the eponymous town.
The city is pretty small but it has all ingredients which are typical and admired throughout the Alsace region.

Lake Gérardmer is the largest natural lake. Along with Retournemer and Longemer, Lake Gérardmer is one of the 3 lakes in the Vosges mountain range, formed after the Würm glaciations (about 90 000 BC). Nowadays, it supplies the town of Gerardmer with drinking water and is used for fishing and bathing. It is such a nice natural spot that it is nicknamed ‘the Vosges gem’.
