A splendid excursion for an early Sunday morning : the Aquatic Gardens in Kenilworth Park

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens was very nice to visit : a stunning, fascinating and somehow obscure landscape. The waterlilies in the ponds were in full bloom and the lotuses were a fantastic highlight. The massive lily pads were amazing, not to mention the dragonflys, butterflies, frogs and turtles of cuteness.
This awesome site was created by a Civil War veteran, who, after losing his arm in the war, started a hobby of cultivating water lilies. As his hobby turned into a lily cultivation business, he dug more and more ponds, and experimented with different flowers. One simply meanders along the embankments between the ponds, over small bridges and eventually a boardwalk that explores further down the Anacostia River.
I took some of my very best pictures in this park, see for yourself : CLICK.
