The Eisenhower Residence

From farm boy to five star general to President, that's, in short, the magnificent carreer of Dwight D. EISENHOWER, aka "Ike". We visited the only house, or should I say farm, he and his wife, Mamie, ever possessed. It is a very modest and quite common place.
A few notable guests were Soviet Premier Khrushchev, French President de Gaulle and British Prime Minister Churchill.
The living room, which was too stuffy dixit Mr. Ike, is a showcase of the many gifts the Eisenhowers received from heads of state as well as friends. The marble fireplace, removed from the White House in 1873 by President Grant. Ike's staff bought it many years later for only $69.00 and presented it as an anniversary gift.
