A Bridge too far ...

Remember the movie, directed in 1977 by Richard Attenborough ? Well, this bridge, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, is not too far at all for us. Annapolis (on the Western side) is only 45 miles from our place. This gigantic construction is a major dual-span bridge over the Chesapeake Bay. At 4.3 miles (7 km) in length, the original span was the world's longest continuous over-water steel structure when it opened in 1952. It's an important traffic artery in Maryland and it connects the Baltimore - Wash DC Area with tourist destinations such as Ocean City (MD), Delaware's ocean resorts (like Rehoboth Beach), Assateague Island and Chincoteague (both in Virginia).
