During our (short ...) stay in Mexico, we preferred to do 2 (short ...) unorganized "excursions". So Playa del Carmen could not be missed as a getaway to taste "la couleur locale". It's a nice touristical spot with many, typical, tequila bars. Playa del Carmen is a cosmopolitan town located on the Caribbean Sea about 35 miles South of Cancun in the heart of Mexico's Mayan Riviera. The town is small enough and thus, you can walk just about anywhere you need to go.
